Please follow the battery manufacturer's safety instructions. Never connect a load to a battery without using fuses or circuit breakers. I would recommend this monitor, especially if you don't want another app on your cell phone. Do not charge batteries in an enclosed environment unless allowed by the manufacturer of the battery. I especially like the current reading that shows the charging current to show you how my Renogy DC to DC and my Renogy AC to DC chargers are performing. This little monitor provides the info that I need. I moved the batteries from outside to inside installed in the under bed storage area. This allows me to unplug it and move it with the batteries when I remove them from the camper during the winter. I decided to build it into a tabletop box that sits on the bedside countertop. It doesn’t have Bluetooth or extensive customizability, though. I bought this monitor to go with two Renogy Smart batteries to replace the failed lead acid batteries in my Jayco travel trailer. This is a solid and simple battery monitor with a large screen and a handy low-capacity alarm. Posted by No more dim lights on May 6th 2022 Identifies Amp hours, how much energy is being pulled and how much energy is being inputed, respectively. I can’t see how connecting the monitor to an already full battery would cause it damage though, not if the wiring is deffo correct. Identifies the number of batteries connected in parallel. Chances are it’ll come to life again when you charge the battery, but unless you do that with an empty battery you’ll have the same trouble again. Gives information on state of charge of battery(ies). Posted by Great 10awg extensions on Aug 7th 2022Įasy plug and play. Takes the guesswork out of how much time is left in the battery as well as realtime charge/discharge rates. Gives me all I need to know on the battery levels. On discharge, the two monitors both show the same value. For example, using my 20A AC charger, the renogy monitor shows 36a and another monitor connected in series shows 18a. In my RV I will typically read it with a flashlight. While the monitor shows the correct current when the battery is being discharged, it shows double the current value when being charged by any of the chargers. The unit works fine and has useful information but the screen is dark and difficult to read. Considering this unit is to be paired with a smart battery with heaters it is a real head scratcher why they did not include battery temp as one of the indicated variables. It seems to be correctly showing the amp flow in and out of the battery, but even when it's drawing 5 amps for multiple hours, I'm not seeing any decrease in the battery charge. 4 Good - But shoud provide BMS indicated Temperature It always says that the batteries are fully charged even when I'm quite certain they shouldn't be.
